Antitrust promises to study order of international route allocation

MOSCOW, Aug 22 (PRIME) -- The Federal Antimonopoly Service will study Russian airline Utair’s complaint against the Federal Air Transport Agency, as there are some questions about the order of international routes distribution and about state support of the aviation industry, a spokesperson for the service told PRIME on Thursday.

“The antitrust service will consider all the circumstance of the case in Utair’s complaint closely. We have some questions about the mechanism of international flight distribution and about the efficiency of support measures provided to the airlines in a difficult period for the industry,” the spokesperson said.

On Wednesday, Vedomosti business daily said that only Aeroflot and S7 Group asked for 15 international routes of defunct airline Transaero distributed by the Transport Ministry on August 13. Pobeda and Utair were unaware of the distribution. The companies asked to delay it, but the authority refused.
